About me

Hello, I’m Rosemary Matthews, a Biology, Chemistry and Nutrition & Food Science teacher from Northern Ireland. With more than two decades in the classroom, I understand the realities of teaching: limited time, varied student needs and the importance of creating resources that are accurate, purposeful and appropriate for each class.
My AI journey began with a simple question: how could these tools genuinely support teaching and learning? Along the way, I have built up a growing collection of ideas, resources and honest reflections.
For me, pedagogy always comes before technology. I do not begin with an AI tool and then search for a way to fit it into a lesson. I begin with the students in front of me, the curriculum and a specific teaching or learning need. I consider what the technology will genuinely add, what students will be thinking, doing and understanding because of it, who will benefit or require further support, and whether it removes barriers or creates new ones.
Through AI Elevated, I share the strategies, practical tips and classroom applications that have worked for me. They are not intended as a single approach for every teacher or subject. Instead, they are ideas that other teachers can dip in and out of, adapt and develop to suit their own context.
I believe AI makes teacher expertise more important, not less. AI-generated content still needs to be reviewed, refined and aligned with the curriculum and the needs of the students in front of us. My approach is grounded in subject knowledge, professional judgement and the safe, ethical and responsible use of technology.
My hope is that AI Elevated helps other teachers feel more confident about exploring AI and gives them practical ideas they can actually use. If I can give you just one idea per post that makes you stop and think, “That’s really straightforward. I’m going to give it a go tomorrow,” then this blog is doing exactly what it was meant to do.
